I want to talk to you about this brilliant system that I use to
sell my products and use affiliate links through eBay. It has given
me a reputation for trying income streams that others wouldn't even
think of.

In the Internet Marketing field we ALL take the mick out of
marketers that sell information products on eBay. I know I used to
regularly be the victim of those jokes. We have always believed the
same that eBay makes your product look cheap and tacky and
completely looses its value. After all how many cheap e-books are
sold on eBay for less than three dollars?

There are far too many to go into great detail about - you could
probably do a search on eBay and find way over 1,000 different ones.

Before I carry on I used to be one of them until the autumn of 2005
when I realised that the eBay fees were simply too much of an
annoying outgoing.

I used to find niches on eBay that everyone else was oblivious to
and I was one of the first to sell products for a penny on eBay but
it was all about Internet Marketing.

When I sold an E-Book for a penny I could VERY easily sell over
1,000 a week and it was my starting point for building up my
mailing list. When I sent out the customers order via email
download I would offer them some extra products for free in
exchange for opting in. In general one in five would join up (20%)
and many are still part of my subscribers today.

The penny auction was also rather popular with sellers too! When
you join eBay as a seller it doesn't look good that you have zero
feedback so sellers would buy about 10 different products from the
low auctions and use the feedback from those sales to get them a
good reputation.

One of my other gems was selling the Cabbage Soup Diet and at £6.99
a go I was laughing even though now it is over done at the usual
£1.99. I'm just using this as an example there are many, many more
niches to be had on eBay its just a case of secretly looking for
them just like I have.

Let's get on to the best bit!

eBay are attempting to cut down on the large quantity of
information products sold on eBay and recently banned automatic
download products with the sellers. The sneaky way that the sellers
have got around this is by selling the downloadable media on CD or
DVD instead. But we all know the amount of content that we can
place on a CD these days talk about damaging the environment.

After all why sell a copy of a Police Auction guide on a CD on its
own?

What would the environmental Secretary have to say about it?

Well there are an awful amount of eBayers selling just that right
now on eBay. What if you could go to them and offer them a solution.

I have personally been contacting sellers for weeks now offering
them the opportunity to cash in on it. Say you have your own viral
e-book or report that you can offer for free in exchange for
fantastic exposure back to you. You see every time a customer buys
via eBay they will also receive your new product on the same CD as
a bonus. Everyone loves a bonus and after viewing your product will
then go and visit your website.

Now that is a result!

I don't have a sellers account anymore as I don't need one all I do
is buy things from eBay for personal use. I also have a fantastic
about me page with links to my websites and affiliate links. I
regularly contact ten different eBayers a week and offer my
products for free in exchange to feature on their CD.

The best bit is they always say YES!

They are always thankful and can't believe they are getting up to
date content to their customers for free after all many are selling
E-Books that are more than four years old!

In affect this is completely free advertising or selling of your
products without having to list anything or pay any sellers fees -
what more could you want?

This loophole though isn't going to be available forever sellers
are soon going to get wise and start selling space on their discs
and who could blame them - if I was selling on eBay I would.

So any eBay sellers reading this - why don't you sell space on your
discs via Internet Marketing Forums or your About Me Page after all
it is FREE advertising and you have nothing to lose.

What if you sold 10 spaces a week on the grounds that it would be
included in 50 CDs at £30 a go that would earn you an extra £300
per week for doing practically nothing!

Also think about the wonderful feedback you will receive for your
customers praising you for their "bonus e-books" it will be amazing!

Think about the difference it could make either as the seller or
the E-Book owner!

Let everything you do shout your worth to the world. In fact, you’d be surprised how much of communication is actually non-verbal. Words are only icing on the cake. It’s your countenance, your demeanor and your attitude that speak the most about you. If you blow a lot of hot air, all you do is steam up the room and create a fog that makes it difficult for people to see the genuine you. You may think this obscures the less developed parts of yourself, but most people have surprisingly good radar and can smell a façade easily.

Actions, however, tell the whole story. What you do is who you are. You are what you do. Your achievements, your energy and your character will reach out and grab the attention of those you wish to align yourself with. 3. Excuses Are for the Weak (509 words)

If you’ve ever used excuses to avoid taking action on something you wanted to do, you were likely laboring under an illusion.

Excuses can seem incredibly strong and valid at times, to the point where we end up believing they are absolute truth. However, excuses can not only cause us to miss out on a few opportunities, they actually have the power to destroy our lives if we let them.

When we continually talk ourselves out of doing things we want to do, we create a powerful downward spiral of decreasing opportunities, dwindling abundance, and diminishing self-respect. Ultimately we end up being an empty shell of the person we could have been.

Don’t let your excuses destroy your life! Excuses are for weak-willed individuals who have no desire or willingness to grow and develop themselves. They have talked themselves out of creating the lives they truly want, and they will not budge from where they are right now unless a life crisis forces them to.

Is this you? Or would you rather be someone who laughs at limitations and faces their fears head on?

If you are in the habit of buying into excuses, you probably utter phrases like these often:

“I can’t . . .”
“I don’t have the talent . . .”

Here’s the worst part: even if an excuse actually holds some merit, like if you really don’t have enough money to go back to school or start a business – the excuse itself prevents you from even TRYING or working toward the goal in some way. Just because you don’t YET have the money, time, talent, courage, or whatever . . . does not mean you won’t have it at some future time. It doesn’t mean that you can’t save up until you have it, or work on it little by little.

Here’s the good news: if you refuse to believe in excuses, they suddenly cease to be true.

Starting today, take a good hard look at your own excuses. Are they really true, or have you been fooling yourself because it seems easier than shattering the illusion?

If you question the beliefs you hold about yourself and your capabilities, you might be surprised to learn that you’ve been held hostage by excuses. But since YOU formed the excuses, you can easily dismantle them too, one step at a time, one faulty belief at a time.

When you begin doing this even in small ways, you begin to develop greater strength and empowerment within yourself, and your whole life will begin to shift and change in miraculous ways.

4.What is Your Personal Mission? (506 words)

Do you have a personal mission? Do you have a compelling reason to get out of bed each day and work consistently toward a clear payoff?

If not, you may be lost in a cycle of inertia. Inertia occurs when your life lacks forward progress and stagnant energy begins to build up. Stagnant energy buildup will eventually create persistent lack, emptiness and lethargy in all areas of your life.

You don’t need lofty goals to avoid stagnation and lack, but you do need to be focused on some type of progress and movement rather than staying stuck in one place. Creating a personal mission can motivate you to climb out of the rut of mediocrity and blast stagnation out of your life permanently.

In order to choose a personal mission, first remember that everything in life has a payoff - both good and bad. Even bad habits like smoking and overeating provide some kind of payoff, or people wouldn’t keep doing them!

Here’s another example of a positive payoff received from a negative situation: if you are in the midst of financial hardship, the payoff might be that you don’t have the funds to start that business you’ve always dreamed of, so you’ll never have to face your fear of failure. It seems like a negative situation, but on some level it’s working for you so you feel no real incentive to change it.

Do you have other situations that keep you locked into mediocrity? Write them down and review them carefully. Then ask yourself if you are willing to form a personal mission that will boost you out of the rut.

You cannot be motivated to change anything about your life until you have a compelling reason to do so – and that is where your personal mission comes in. Your mission has to be a reason so STRONG and so IMPORTANT that you cannot deny it.

Examples:

“It is vitally important to me to create financial security for my family.”
“I choose to enjoy a greater sense of fulfillment in my work.”
“I choose to feel proud about my accomplishments.”
“I’m taking control of my life and avoid playing the role of victim.”
“I’m going to show that jerk Mike next door that I’m better than he is.”

That last one is a joke, by the way. ;-) Make your personal mission about you or your family, not about others. Choose something that really speaks to your heart, way down deep inside. It should be something that makes you feel as determined and fired up as possible. Then write a clear statement that describes your personal mission.

Once you have your mission statement, you have to keep imprinting it on your mind daily – preferably several times a day. Keep reading it to yourself. Write about it in a journal. State your reasons for wanting it. Vow to keep moving toward it no matter what.

Make it the most powerful goal you’ve ever pursued, and you’ll have all the motivation you need to make lasting changes.

It’s amazing how much junk we tend to absorb into our minds and allow it stay there, festering and tainting everything we do. Most of have minds that are cluttered with unproductive thoughts like negative comments by friends or family members, derogatory messages we’ve fed to ourselves, and restrictive messages received by society. All of this trash will continue to degrade our performance unless we clear it out occasionally.

Take a few moments to think about the types of thoughts and beliefs you hold about yourself and your life. Are you still operating under your father’s assertion that you’ll never amount to anything? Are you still hearing the voice of your third grade teacher who said you wouldn’t go far in life because of your inability to pay attention in class? Make a list of all the beliefs and limitations that others have placed upon you. Also be sure to include the limitations that you have placed upon yourself. You know the ones that claim you can’t do such-and-such because you’re just not good at it, or the things you’ve tried but didn’t have much success with the first time around, so now you believe you’ll never be successful at it. When you’ve written down everything you can think of – read the list over once more, and then BURN it.

Everything on that list was simply a perception, whether yours or someone else’s. Perceptions are flexible and subject to change. You now have a clean slate upon which to write your own empowering perceptions. You can start by writing the opposite of the beliefs and messages you just burned, or you can come up with entirely new ones. What truths do you want to apply to your life? That you’re wealthy? That you’re successful and confident? That you are eager to try new things? Whatever you want to do in life, add it to the list and then get moving on it! Periodically, repeat this clearing-out exercise to be sure you’re not reabsorbing restrictive messages again. Keep your mind free of unproductive trash and debris, and you’ll have plenty of room to store the thoughts you actually WANT to keep in there.

6.Let Your Anger Work for You (500 words)

German theologian Martin Luther once said, “I never work better than when I am inspired by anger; when I am angry, I can write, pray, and preach well, for then my whole temperament is quickened, my understanding sharpened, and all mundane vexations and temptations depart.”

Anger is powerful stuff, all right!

Think about the last time you got really angry about something. Didn’t you feel an unequalled strength within yourself? Weren’t you filled with fire and passion and ready to take action?

While anger is often used in a destructive way, you can also learn to use anger to motivate yourself to higher and higher achievements.

How do you do this? First, you obviously need to get angry about the right things, and then you need to direct that anger in the right direction.

Look at your life the way it is right now. Are you satisfied with your career path, your financial situation, the state of your relationships, and the state of your health? If not, get mad about it! Let yourself get angry about your bad habits, your tendency to procrastinate, and the many missed opportunities your behavior has caused. Get mad about your inability to get and stay motivated long enough to make positive changes. Get mad about ignoring the problem until it became a chronic condition!

As Martin Luther described above, let your anger clear all confusion and mundane thoughts from your mind. Let it focus your thoughts to a laser point, and then turn that point onto any situation in your life that displeases you.

Use your anger to propel you into action. Decide that you’re “mad as hell” and you’re not going to take it any longer! Let your anger serve as a fire under your rear end to propel you into doing that which must be done to change your life once and for all.

Go on a rampage and clear out your bad habits. Eliminate your unproductive tendencies and replace them with empowering ones. Evaluate every aspect of your life carefully, and be willing to let go of anything that isn’t working for you.

If done correctly, this works like a charm.

Once you can reach a point of intolerance about your existing circumstances, you will find yourself feeling really angry, and really ready to make changes. THAT is the moment when you hold a powerful force for change right in the palm of your hand. Just remember to get angry about the situations and habits that detract from who you want to be, and be sure to direct your anger in constructive ways.

You may not be able to change everything overnight, but you can at least take the first steps today and then keep up with the process over time. You’ll also probably have to keep rekindling your anger from time to time because it tends to be short lived, but this is a good thing because it allows you to use it in a very precise and focused way.

Believing that you can’t change your circumstances is one sure way to feel powerless. The truth is you always have choices. You may not like the choices available, but they are still yours. You can choose to act, or not act; you can choose to be optimistic about the possibilities that exist for your life, or you can accept limitations at every turn. Deciding which choice is best is the tricky part.

Fear can also disguise itself as a condition of powerlessness. You may know on some level that you have choices but refuse to acknowledge them because you fear the unknown. You know you can leave a dissatisfying job, but then what will you do? Will you find another job to replace it, and if so will it be a job you enjoy, or be worse than the one you just left? You know you can dissolve an unhealthy relationship, but is being alone really any better? At least now you have someone there, even if it’s not the person you’d prefer be there. Rather than face uncertain outcomes, you avoid making choices at all.

Whether you really believe you have a shortage of options or you are simply making excuses because you’re afraid to move forward, know that it’s ALL within your control. Just like every other person on the planet, you always have the most basic opportunity before you now: resign yourself to staying where you are, or roll up your sleeves and make something happen. If you worry about making the wrong choice, know that you can always make another choice. You can keep making choices as often as you’d like until you find something that works for you. To avoid making choices altogether doesn’t serve you, because in the end even not making choices is a decision all its own.

Are you still waiting for a sign from the heavens to figure out what to do with your life? Are you hoping that the sky will crack open and a loud booming voice will tell you exactly what to do, where to go, what to focus on? If only it were that easy. There is nothing wrong with believing in a pre-destined life purpose, but it does tend to keep you feeling powerless and adrift if you can’t figure out what it should be. Not only is the uncertainty maddening, there is also the fear that you might choose wrong and set a cataclysmic chain of events into motion. That might sound overly dramatic, but it can certainly feel that way at times! What most of us overlook is the thrill that can come from choosing our own purpose.

Whether you’re more comfortable thinking you have a distinct destiny to fulfill or you think of it in terms of having the free will to choose your path, you can still be proactive in choosing your own life mission. Think about it this way: your life purpose will be something that makes you feel passionate and fulfilled. It is designed that way on purpose – so you “know” what you’re supposed to be doing! Your purpose is to do that which is most aligned with who you are, and uses your natural talents and abilities to their fullest extent. Only you can say what that is exactly, and you may not have the foggiest clue right now.

So begin finding out! If you already know what makes you feel inspired and purposeful, do it more often. Find a way to share it with others. If you don’t know what your passions are, go exploring and find them. Try new things and see if any of them resonate with you. The activities themselves don’t really matter except that they should make you feel wonderful and provide some kind of benefit for the world around you. Think about your existing talents, skills and passions, constantly work on developing new ones – and find a way to share them with others. Then, no matter what else you do, you are definitely fulfilling a grand purpose here on earth. Is it “your” purpose? It is if you choose it to be!

9.A Motivated Mind is a Disciplined Mind - (510 words)

If you’ve ever had a hard time getting or staying disciplined, you may have been struggling with a lack of motivation. Motivation and discipline usually go hand-in-hand because without motivation, it is nearly impossible to become disciplined. Ironically, once you become disciplined you rarely need to be motivated to keep your life running smoothly.

Discipline is a willingness and commitment to do what needs to be done. Without discipline, our lives would be in disarray. Think about the things you do on a daily or weekly basis that are required in order to maintain your life properly. Housework, laundry, grocery shopping, fueling and maintaining your vehicle, working, bathing, paying bills, balancing the checkbook, sleeping, and more are all required activities. Without them, what would your life look like?

If you already have a strong sense of discipline, you likely do these things without much thought. You know they must be done, so you just do them. On the other hand, if you lack discipline, you may find yourself procrastinating and putting your duties aside – which can create a colossal mess if it’s done too frequently.

Discipline is also required when you are working toward a goal. If you don’t complete the steps that will create the outcome you desire, you will not meet your objective. When you first set your goals, you may have strong motivation which can help you gain some valuable momentum.

However, ingrained habits and an undisciplined mind may eventually prevent you from establishing continuity; and without some kind of inner or outer motivation you are unlikely to develop the discipline you need.

In order to escape this stagnant cycle and develop a strong sense of self-discipline, you need to get and stay motivated! How can you do this? There are several ways, but here are few to begin with:

Focus on the benefits. With every task or chore you do, spend a few moments emphasizing the benefit you will receive from doing it. In order to get and stay motivated, it is crucial to have some sort of payoff in mind. Even if your payoff will come at a future time, remind yourself why this task or chore is a good thing.

See the big picture. Remember that this task is only one part of a larger puzzle. It’s hard to get inspired about scrubbing a toilet, until you envision your entire home clean and shining. By looking at the big picture, each little task will retain a measure of importance in your own mind.

Do it for the discipline. In order to develop strong discipline, you’ll need to keep strengthening your “discipline muscle” bit by bit. The only way to do this is by pushing yourself to do the things you have to do! As you complete each task related to your goal (or even your household chores) keep affirming that you are developing stronger and stronger discipline with each passing day. Eventually you’ll find yourself easily doing what needs to be done and it won’t be a struggle anymore – because you’ll already be disciplined!

[1] There are typically 66,000 e-gold spends each day totalling 15,000 oz (470 kg), which is about US$10.5 million. There are over three million e-gold accounts of which about one quarter are active.

History

e-gold was founded in 1996 by Dr. Douglas Jackson and Barry K. Downey.Transactions using e-gold have grown dramatically since 2005. The total amount of gold bars (over three tonnes) in the e-gold system is approaching the size of the national reserves of smaller countries. e-gold now generates a substantial income from spend and storage fees — there is a charge of a few cents to make each e-gold "spend" and e-gold itself now earns well over a million USD per year from fees.

Bullion investing

e-gold does not promote itself as an investment. However, since e-gold is a form of commodity money, some users may put a portion of their assets into the form of e-gold to maintain a liquid store of value as a hedge. As commodity money, e-gold account values are subject to the price fluctuations of that commodity against each national currency. If the price of gold drops versus a national currency, the value of e-gold drops in that currency. The account balance, which is denominated in gold grams[citation needed], does not change, but its purchasing power will change in relation to the gold price.

This can, of course, work both ways. Proponents of the e-gold system would argue that the risk of significant price fluctuation is small compared to the risk of value fluctuations among fiat currencies. The opposite argument is that a typical user is more affected by changes in the price of gold than of fiat currencies; this is because most people are paid in and spend their local currency, while the use of e-gold will typically involve a foreign exchange transaction each time. In both cases, long-term shifts in the price of a currency or e-gold affect its owner, but anyone who frequently buys and sells e-gold will be exposed to short-term fluctuations as well. The price of gold has increased over the past five years, so this factor has worked out to the advantage of anyone holding e-gold over that period.

As well as digital gold, e-gold also offers e-silver, e-palladium and e-platinum. Funds can be switched between e-metals using their sister company OmniPay. Metal-to-metal (or "M2M") exchanges are completed at spot price with no bid/offer spread.

Exchanging for currency

e-gold does not sell its e-metal directly to users. Instead digital currency exchangers, such as OmniPay (a sister company of e-gold), and numerous independent companies act as market makers selling e-metal in exchange for other currencies and a transaction fee. Conversely, these exchange providers will buy e-metal with other currencies, again taking a transaction fee. In this manner e-metals can be converted back and forth to a variety of national currencies. The amount of a particular currency or e-metal necessary to complete a transaction is determined by the spot price of the metal in relation to the value of the currency. e-gold is known as private currency as it is not issued by governments.

Compared to other systems like PayPal, the process of buying e-gold can be confusing to a person unfamiliar with the e-gold system. e-gold, unlike e-Bullion for instance, does not sell digital currency directly to the user. According to its website the reason e-gold does not provide an in-house exchange service is so there can be no debt or contingent liabilities associated with the business, making e-gold free of financial risk. They claim e-gold does not possess currency of any nation or even have a bank account.

Fees

e-gold charges an account fee (or "agio Fee") of 1% per annum (deducted in monthly payments) on all e-metal stored.

Spending e-gold is free, with processing fees (or "spend fees") deducted from the recipient. As of 2007 these spend fees vary on a sliding scale from about 5% for spending 0.1 grams of gold to 1% for 5 grams of gold. Over 5 grams of gold, the fee is capped at 0.05 gram of gold (about $1.48 with gold at US$922 per ounce).

e-gold spends clear instantly, in contrast to cheques or credit card transactions.[citation needed] Unlike other online payment systems such as PayPal, there are no distinctions between merchant and non-merchant e-gold accounts. Anyone can instantly create a "merchant account" (there is only one type of account). All e-gold accounts carry the same fees and have the same capacity to receive and transmit e-gold account holdings.

Universal currency

Proponents claim that e-gold offered the first truly borderless global currency system which was independent of exchange rate variations.[citation needed] Gold (XAU), silver (XAG), platinum (XPT) and palladium (XPD) each have recognised three-letter international currency codes under ISO 4217.

Crime and fraud

e-gold has been perceived by the United States government as the medium of choice for many online con-artists, with pyramid schemes and High Yield Investment Programs ("HYIPs") commonplace. This has been blamed on e-gold's policy of irreversible transactions. However, e-gold has been blocking accounts where fraud is proven or suspected since 2001.

e-gold and OmniPay have also been accused of being a medium for money laundering, although this is questionable given that there were only 24 customer accounts holding over 10kg of gold (approximate value $200,000) by April 2006. digital gold currency providers are not banks, they are not legally required to perform various sorts of "know your customer" background checks. However, many legitimate e-gold exchange providers, for example GoldNow, may require a higher level of identification, generally more intrusive than a bank, for security purposes.

In January 2006, BusinessWeek reported on the use of the e-gold system by ShadowCrew, an 4000-strong international crime syndicate involved in massive identity theft and fraud [10] Omar Dhanani of Fountain Valley, California, connected to the ShadowCrew, is an e-gold customer and is reported to have moved amounts ranging from $40,000 to $100,000 a week from proceeds of crime through e-gold.

In response, Jackson published a letter which stated that "e-gold operates legally and does not condone persons attempting to use e-gold for criminal activity. e-gold has a long history of cooperation with law enforcement agencies in the US and worldwide, providing data and investigative assistance in response to lawful requests." He further noted that "Our staff has participated in hundreds of investigations supporting the FBI, FTC, IRS, DEA, SEC, USPS, and others."

In August 2006, WORLDLawDirect lawyers announced e-gold officials and their legal counsel to be the subject of a U.S. Federal Court subpoena. They believe e-gold is subject to U.S. Federal Court jurisdiction and may be held liable for some or all of the investors' losses (and potential triple damages) in the Solid Investment large scale High Yield Investment Program (HYIP) scam[citation needed] On 27 April 2007, a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C. indicted e-gold Ltd and its owners on charges of money laundering, conspiracy, and operating an unlicensed money transmitting business.e-gold, however, claims that the charges are groundless, and has responded to the allegations.

Gold & Silver Reserve (G&SR), Inc has suspended all of Iranian accounts on 24 November 2006 without notification.
2007 indictment

In April 2007, the US government ordered e-gold administration to lock/block approximately 58 e-gold accounts, owned and used by The Bullion Exchange, AnyGoldNow, IceGold, GitGold, The Denver Gold Exchange, GoldPouch Express, 1MDC (a Digital Gold Currency, based on e-gold), and others, and forced G&SR (owner of OmniPay) to liquidate the seized assets . In addition, a few weeks later, e-gold themselves were indicted with 4 indictments. However, e-gold are still in business, and are growing at the rate of approx. 95,000 new accounts per month, see [citation needed]

The essence of the allegations in the indictment is twofold: 1) e-gold is an unlicensed money transmitting entity as defined by 2) e-gold was a de facto means of moving money from illegal activities to wit: HYIPs which are Ponzi scams, credit card and identity fraud sites and retailers of child pornography.

The indictment alleges (paragraph 34) that the defendants knew of the activities associated with the accounts and noted those activities in the e-gold database with notations such as: "child porn", "scammer", and "CC fraud".

The indictment further alleges that knowing that certain accounts were associated with illegal activities e-gold placed "value limits" on the accounts and suggested that the account holders open new accounts and placed no restrictions on the customer's ability to move funds out of the account.

Partly due to this reason e-gold's gold bullion reserves have dropped from 112,188 oz in April 2007 to 84,856 oz (from 3,491.0 kg to 2,461.2 kg) (by June 2007.

Criticisms

Non-reversible transactions

Unlike credit cards, there is no way of having transactions reversed, even in case of a legitimate error or an unauthorized expenditure. e-gold's Terms of Use stipulate that all transactions are final and e-gold cannot be held responsible for any spend. In this respect, an e-gold spend is more akin to a cash transaction (except for the fact that there is a fee levied) while PayPal transfers, for example, could be considered more similar to credit card transactions.

Security

As with any online payment system, e-gold is vulnerable to various threats, notably phishing (for example, forged emails asking for login details) and malware (such as keystroke logging spyware).

e-gold offers no protection whatsoever if an attacker succeeds in obtaining:

* the user's e-gold account number
* the user's e-gold password
* access to the user's registered email account (web-based email accounts without a secure login are especially vulnerable) as the e-gold account will then be completely open for malicious use.

All three pieces of information can be gathered with a trojan keylogger which monitors accesses to the e-gold web-site. All online services are affected by this security issue, but what makes e-gold especially vulnerable is that any losses resulting from a security breach cannot be undone since transfers are non-reversible and, unlike online banking, e-gold do not provide any insurance against such abuse. Also if funds are stolen, e-gold will not block a recipient's account without being issued with a court order. Since there is a lag time in obtaining a court order, the stolen funds can easily be withdrawn from the offending account and the e-gold system, rendering the recovery of any funds virtually impossible. This is not clearly stated in e-gold's user agreement, but an abused user will receive the following explanation from the company:

Unfortunately we will not be able to refund your money because all e-gold spends are final and not reversible as stated in the e-gold account user agreement. e-gold is also contractually prohibited from freezing e-gold accounts or releasing e-gold account information in the absence of a court order or subpoena. You might want to consider obtaining some combination of help from a legal professional or law enforcement to obtain a court order, if the size of your loss warrants expenditure of your resources (time and money) to resolve.

In 2005, the Los Angeles Times reported on a specially created trojan horse that compromised "dozens" to "the low hundreds" of e-gold accounts . While trojans usually silently record the login details of the unsuspecting user, the trojan in question emptied the accounts themselves by transferring the contents to the attacker's accounts.

To partly counter the threat from keystroke logging it is imperative that users never enter their password via a keyboard when logging in, or authorising spends, if the computer they are using is potentially infected. Instead, users without a disability should always use a mouse and the popup window provided (SRK Passphrase Entry). However this is not a panacea as advanced spyware can take a screen shot and read the mouse clicks. Regulatory challenges and shortcomings
e-gold Ltd. was registered in Nevis, Lesser Antilles in 1999, but was temporarily removed from the register. e-gold cleared an administrative issue and as of July 14, 2006, it is properly registered in Nevis.

In September 2004, several Australian based e-gold currency exchangers ceased operation as they did not hold an Australian Financial Services licence (AFSL) Australian based digital currency exchangers that closed down voluntarily, due to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) licencing requirements, included goldex.net, sydneygoldsales.com and ozzigold.com.

If you want to sell (which actually means sell the base currency and buy the quote currency), you want the base currency to fall in value and then you would buy it back at a lower price. This is called "going short" or taking a "short position". Short = sell. Bid/Ask Spread All Forex quotes include a two-way price, the bid and ask. The bid is always lower than the ask price. The bid is the price in which the dealer is willing to buy the base currency in exchange for the quote currency. This means the bid is the price at which you (as the trader) will sell. The ask is the price at which the dealer will sell the base currency in exchange for the quote currency. This means the ask is the price at which you will buy. The difference between the bid and the ask price is popularly known as the spread. Let's take a look at an example of a price quote taken from a trading platform: Forex Spread On this GBP/USD quote, the bid price is 1.7445 and the ask price is 1.7449. Look at how this broker makes it so easy for you to trade away your money. If you want to sell GBP, you click "Sell" and you will sell pounds at 1.7445. If you want to buy GBP, you click "Buy" and you will buy pounds at 1.7449. In the following examples, we're going to use fundamental analysis to help us decide whether to buy or sell a specific currency pair. If you always fell asleep during your economics class or just flat out skipped economics class, don t worry!

We will cover fundamental analysis in a later lesson. For right now, try to pretend you know what s going on EUR/USD In this example Euro is the base currency and thus the basis for the buy/sell. If you believe that the US economy will continue to weaken, which is bad for the US dollar, you would execute a BUY EUR/USD order. By doing so you have bought euros in the expectation that they will rise versus the US dollar.

If you believe that the US economy is strong and the euro will weaken against the US dollar you would execute a SELL EUR/USD order. By doing so you have sold Euros in the expectation that they will fall versus the US dollar. USD/JPY In this example the US dollar is the base currency and thus the basis for the buy/sell. If you think that the Japanese government is going to weaken the Yen in order to help its export industry, you would execute a BUY USD/JPY order. By doing so you have bought U.S dollars in the expectation that they will rise versus the Japanese yen. If you believe that Japanese investors are pulling money out of U.S. financial markets and converting all their U.S. dollars back to Yen, and this will hurt the US dollar, you would execute a SELL USD/JPY order. By doing so you have sold U.S dollars in the expectation that they will depreciate against the Japanese yen.

Order Types

There are some basic order types that all brokers provide and some others that sound weird. The basic ones are:

Market order A market order is an order to buy or sell at the current market price. For example, EUR/USD is currently trading at 1.2140. If you wanted to buy at this exact price, you would click buy and your trading platform would instantly execute a buy order at that exact price. If you ever shop on Amazon.com, it's (kinda) like using their 1-Click ordering. You like the current price, you click once and it's yours! The only difference is you are buying or selling one currency against another currency instead of buying Britney Spears CDs.

Limit order A limit order is an order placed to buy or sell at a certain price. The order essentially contains two variables, price and duration. For example, EUR/USD is currently trading at 1.2050. You want to go long if the price reaches 1.2070. You can either sit in front of your monitor and wait for it to hit 1.2070 (at which point you would click a buy market order), or you can set a buy limit order at 1.2070 (then you could walk away from your computer to attend your ballroom dancing class). If the price goes up to 1.2070, your trading platform will automatically execute a buy order at that exact price. You specify the price at which you wish to buy/sell a certain currency pair and also specify how long you want the order to remain active (GTC or GFD).

Stop-loss order A stop-loss order is a limit order linked to an open trade for the purpose of preventing additional losses if price goes against you. A stop-loss order remains in effect until the position is liquidated or you cancel the stop-loss order. For example, you went long (buy) EUR/USD at 1.2230. To limit your maximum loss, you set a stop-loss order at 1.2200. This means if you were dead wrong and EUR/USD drops to 1.2200 instead of moving up, your trading platform would automatically execute a sell order at 1.2200 and close out your position for a 30 pip loss (eww!). Stop-losses are extremely useful if you don't want to sit in front of your monitor all day worried that you will lose all your money. Choosing the right Broker

Before trading Forex you need to set up an account with a Forex broker. So what exactly is a broker? In simplest terms, a broker is an individual or a company that buys and sells orders according to the trader's decisions. Brokers earn money by charging a commission or a fee for their services. You may feel overwhelmed by the number of brokers who offer their services online. Deciding on a broker requires a little bit of research on your part, but the time spent will give you insight into the services that are available and fees charged by various brokers. Is the Forex broker regulated? When selecting a prospective Forex broker, find out with which regulatory agencies it is registered with.

The Forex market is labeled as an unregulated market, and it basically is. Regulation is typically reactive, meaning only after you ve been bamboozled out of your entire savings will something be done. In the United States a broker should be registered as a Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and a NFA member. The CFTC and NFA were made to protect the public against fraud, manipulation, and abusive trade practices.

You can verify Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) registration and NFA membership status of a particular broker and check their disciplinary history by phoning NFA at (800) 621-3570 or by checking the broker/firm information section (BASIC) of NFA's Web site at www.nfa.futures.org/basicnet/. Among the registered firms, look for those with clean regulatory records and solid financials. Stay away from non-regulated firms! The NFA is stepping up their efforts in educating investors about retail forex trading. They ve created a brochure fit for a Pulitzer Prize called, "Trading in the Retail Off-Exchange Foreign Currency Market . The NFA recommends you read it before taking the forex plunge.
