Do you know that one answer at one key moment is all you need to change your status, and of course, bring about a change in the society? Your concept, invention or idea could be the answers to a question that will make things happen in the world.
The story is told that in July of 1938, Victor Gruen went to America from Austria with $8 in his pocket and an architect’s T-square in his luggage. In his homeland, he had championed innovative public housing, and had just begun to get architectural commissions from Vienna ’s department stores when Hitler’s armies invaded. He fled to the united states, bringing with him an idea inspired by the markets of medieval Austrian and Swiss towns, and by the stately Galleria Vittorio Emenuele 11 in Milan. He introduced the covered shopping mail to America .
Gruen’s first mall opened in Minnesota in the mid-1950s. it was little more than a courtyard centered between two department stores. A single roof over the entire structure, however, meant that construction costs for smaller, individual stores could be reduced, making the entire complex cheaper to build.
So many developers hired Gruen that his firm soon had offices in six major cities. He was called in to redesign entire downtown areas, as well as to redesign the city of Tehran .
Before the introduction of sachet water (pure water) into the Nigerian market, you will agree with me that water was already in existence or that treated bottled water was already in yhr market. Somebody just answered the question of:”is it possible to have clean and treated water at an affordable price?”.
Think about the sachet milk,. Before cowbell came up with the idea, there was already milk inn existence. Someone just came up with the answer to the question; “is there no way people can have milk at an affordable price?” And when it did, it became number one in that category.
How about the plastic chairs that have become the rave of the moment? It was somebody’s idea. Examples abound of how men and women provided answers to problems and the rest are now history. All that you need to succeed is already within you, just look deeper. Just add value to something already in existence and you might as well be the next genius in town.
Come to think of it, there are two types of genius. The first are those who invent something for the first time and the second type are those who add value to something already in existence. Bill Gate is the second richest man in the world and whenever his name is mentioned; the first thing that comes to mind is computers. But he didn’t invent computers, did he? He just added value to computers. Likewise Henry Ford; people think it was he that invented cars. But what he did was to modernize the production of automobiles.
Dear friend, in your chosen profession, look out for ways to add more value and of course, you will be smiling to the bank.
